Slice, Slice, Cupcake! Michael Meyers Halloween Cupcakes to Die For (Literally)

Calling all horror fans and cupcake enthusiasts! Halloween season is upon us, and what better way to celebrate than with some chillingly delicious treats? Today, we're taking a trip to Haddonfield with a batch of cupcakes inspired by the iconic slasher film, "Halloween."

A Slice of the Night He Came Home:

These cupcakes are a delightful blend of spooky and sweet. Here's how you can bring a bit of Michael Myers' mayhem to your Halloween party:

HERE'S WHAT YOU NEED:

2 cups of White Chocolate - melted

Molds for Halloween face:

Horror Movie Killer Face Silicone Molds for Keychains Michael | Etsy

Black Food Coloring Gel

FOR THE CUPCAKES:

1 1/4 cup of Flour

1 1/2 teaspoons of Baking Powder

1/2 teaspoon of Salt

1 cup of Sugar

1/2 cup of Milk

1/4 cup of Vegetable Oil

2 Tablespoons of Vanilla Silk Yogurt

1 Egg

1 Tablespoon of Vanilla

Orange Food Coloring Gel

FOR THE FROSTING:

4 ounces of Cream Cheese - softened

4 Tablespoons of Butter - softened

1 teaspoon of Vanilla

2 Tablespoons of Heavy Cream

4 - 5 cups of Powdered Sugar

HERE'S WHAT YOU DO:

Melt the White Chocolate in the Microwave, and fill the halloween Face Molds with the White Chocolate.  Place in Freezer for about 10 minutes to quickly set the Chocolate. Place 1 teaspoonful of the Black Food Coloring Gel in a small dish, and mix in 1/2 a teaspoon of the melted White Chocolate, stirring well.  Using a small Cookie Brush,  paint the outline of the halloween Face mask with the Black Food Coloring Gel/White Chocolate mixture.  Let dry for about 10 minutes. Set aside.

Make the Cupcakes:

In the mixing bowl of a stand mixer, add the Sugar, Milk, Oil, Yogurt, Egg, and Vanilla, and mix on low until blended, then mix on medium, until creamy.  In a separate bowl, place the Flour, Baking Powder, and Salt, and stir well to blend.  Add the Mixer, and blend on Low speed, until mixed, then turn up the mixer, and blend until smooth.  Scrape down the sides of the mixing bowl, and blend again until completely smooth.Add about 2 or 3 teaspoons of the orange Food Coloring Gel to the Cupcake Batter, until you have the desired color of Red.  Line a 12 count Muffin Tin with Cupcake Liners, and fill the Liners 2/3 of the way full.  Bake at 350 for 13 to 15 minutes, or until Cupcake are done, and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Remove from the oven to a wire rack to cool.

While Cupcakes are cooling, make the Frosting:

In the mixing bowl of a stand mixer, place the softened Cream Cheese, softened Butter, Vanilla, and Heavy Cream, and mix until smooth and creamy.  Add the Powdered Sugar about a cup at a time and blend well between additions.  Scrape down the Mixing bowl, and blend until smooth.  The Frosting should be thick and creamy.  If you need to add a little more Powdered Sugar, add about 1/4 cup at a time until you have a thick and  creamy Frosting.

When the Cupcakes are completely cool, place the Frosting in a Pastry/Piping bag with the large Star tip, and Pipe the Frosting on the Cupcakes, using a swirling motion around the cupcakes and bringing the Frosting up to a point.  Place the halloween White Chocolate Faces in the Frosting and keep refrigerated until time to serve.  Serve, and Enjoy!

NOTE:  Each Halloween Face Mold makes one Face, so you'll need to order accordingly - you can just order 1 mold, and make the Faces a couple of days ahead, and keep them in the refrigerator until time to use them. 

With a little creativity, you can whip up a batch of horror movie cupcakes that are as frighteningly fun to make as they are to devour. So grab your ingredients, turn up the John Carpenter soundtrack, and get ready to bake up a storm! Happy Halloween, and remember... don't eat the last cupcake. Michael might be watching.

It's that time of year again - leaves are changing, pumpkins are popping up everywhere, and what better way to celebrate than with a fun fall craft project? This activity is perfect for keeping little hands busy and creating some adorable apple artwork!

What you'll need:

• Construction paper
• Red, green, and brown paint
• Shallow dishes or trays for paint
• Wine corks
• Baby wipes or paper towels (for clean-up!)
• Optional: Glitter, markers, googly eyes for decorating

Let's get stamping!

Prepare your canvas: Unfold a large piece of construction paper. This will be the background for your giant apple!

Cork transformation: Pour a small amount of red paint into one of your shallow dishes. Now comes the fun part! Press the flat end of the wine cork into the red paint, making sure it gets a nice, even coat.

Stamping time! Carefully, guide your child's hand as they press the painted end of the cork onto the construction paper. This will be the body of the apple. Repeat this process, creating multiple red circles close together to form a large apple.

Stem and Leaf: Use a paintbrush and green paint to add a long, curvy stem coming out of the top of the apple. For the leaf, dip a corner of the paintbrush in green paint and make a few small teardrop shapes next to the stem

Browning time (optional): Fall apples often have brown speckles on the skin. Use a brown paintbrush to gently dab small dots around the red apple to create this effect

Decoration Extravaganza! Now comes the fun part - decorating! Let your child unleash their creativity. They can add glitter for a sparkly apple, use markers to draw stripes or a cute face, or even stick on googly eyes for a silly apple friend.

Pro-Tips:

• Safety first! Cover your work surface with newspaper or a tablecloth to avoid paint splatters.
• Little artists, big messes: For younger children, use washable paint and have plenty of baby wipes or paper towels on hand for clean-up.
• Get creative! Don't limit yourselves to red apples. Experiment with other fall colors for a variety of apple creations!

This easy and engaging craft is a fantastic way to spend quality time with your kids this fall. It allows them to explore their creativity, practice hand-eye coordination, and celebrate the beauty of the season. Plus, you'll end up with some adorable apple artwork to proudly display! Playdoh Meatball Math

Are you looking for a way to make early math engaging for kids? This play doh activity makes for a fun way to master early counting skills in a manner that kids are going to want an extra helping of.

We are a play doh family through and through. Over the years I have created so many hands on lessons for my kids as well as invitations to play that started with a simple can of squishy play doh.  From a prickly cactus craft that my tween was enchanted by, to  DIY food puzzles for toddlers. I have always felt that playdoh was one of the best toys to have on hand because it doubles as a learning tool.

This idea is so much fun! It starts with 2 cans of play doh and a cute little pan. Grab a few dominoes and your little learners are ready to jump into this awesome activity.

Supplies:

Play doh. I used yellow, a little red and a little orange.

A small pan

Dominoes

Directions:

Create a pan of noodles from the yellow playdoh by rolling out into thin strips between your hands and tear them off at various lengths.

Combine a ball of red and orange dough together to make the meatballs. 

Now tear off small sections and roll them into balls.

Place the noodles into the pan.

Leave the meatballs over to the side.

Invite your preschooler to select a domino from the pile and count the dots.

This is how many meatballs this spaghetti needs. Count the meatballs as you add them to the noodles.

Repeat as desired until you have used all of the dominoes or mastered your counting lesson. I know your kids are going to love this take on early math!

Strawberry Ghosts

Trying to eat a little healthier this fall? You are in luck! With this simple recipe you can make a serving of candy coated fruit to satisfy your cravings.

I am always trying to make fruits and veggies more appealing to my kids. This recipe is a sure way to get kids excited about strawberries, while giving them a little of the candy they desire.

Supplies:

Strawberries

White candy melts

Candy eyes

Parchment or wax paper

Directions:

Wash the berries and dry them on a paper towel.

It is very important that you remove all the exterior moisture before you dip into the chocolate.

If there is still water/moisture on the berries when you dip into the chocolate; it will clump up fast.

When the berries are dry melt the white chocolate/almond bark according to the directions on the packaging.

Dip the berries into the melted chocolate, working fast.

Place the berries on the wax paper.

Before the chocolate has a chance to harden, drop 2 candy eyes on each berry.

When all of the berries have eyes, you can place them in the fridge to help the chocolate harden.

You can enjoy these within 15 minutes or so.

These are perfect for sharing at a Halloween party! What a sweet little spooky ghost!

I bet you can't eat just one!

These are delicious, easy to make, and while they do have a candy coating, they are so much healthier than some of the options Halloween is best known for!

Are you looking for a fun project for older kids that something you probably already have at home? This prickly play doh cactus craft is awesome for tweens and teens and maybe even Mom or Dad too. Anyone who loves cacti will appreciate this easy and fun way to add a little cactus flair to your space.

I have always been a big fan of play doh. When I was a kid myself, I begged for it all the time. When I was a tween, I did every school project possible with play doh. As a twenty something, I made my much cooler friends roll their eyes at my play doh collection. Now I am a mom, and guess what? I STILL LOVE PLAY DOH! 

This project came about during an afternoon of missing the kids while they were at school. I started playing with green doh and here we are, making a cool, prickly play doh cactus.

Disclaimer. This is NOT a kid project. Do not do this with your toddlers, preschoolers, infants, or kindergartners. They will get hurt. 

Supplies:

A small terracotta pot

Green play doh

Toothpicks

A few rocks

Directions:

Fill half of your pot with rocks. 

 Shape your green play doh into a long lump.

Attach a few lumps to the sides, like the arms of a cactus.

Now, take about ten toothpicks and break them in half.

Start sticking the toothpicks into the play doh, like the little spikes of a cactus, insert them broken side into the doh.

As you can see, I thought a little purple flower was a nice touch. Feel free to vary this as you like.

Display on your desk, or on a shelf out of reach of little hands. Over time this will dry out. You can toss it, or keep it as is when that happens. It is a matter of preference.
